The Great War
The Great War took place between 1E 702 – 1E 895. A dispute between Magic users(The Wizards) and Religious fanatics(The Paladins) sparked conflict and for the next 160 years the world was torn apart by war. This dispute was started by the Holy Priest Jacques II, who unknown to everyone else, was currently controlled by the Dragon Lord Morgeth. The two factions fought against one another, and their bloodshed helped feed Morgeth’s power. He slowly grew in power over this period of time and calmly bided his time, keeping the war alive by sending agents to infiltrate the ranks of both armies and spread rumors. During a a battle on Ayrelae, the island of the elves, the Wizards found an ancient staff in the ruins of a once great and powerful race. They used this staff in a battle against an army of Paladins, but the staff was too powerful for the humans, and sunk the entire continent under the sea. All the elves perished, except for the small few who were not on the continent at the time. The war saw an end when the Head Wizard Magnus and Holy Priest Jacques V made peace after the Battle of Silent City. Not surprisingly, it was when the humans noticed their how many of their own kind died in a single battle, that they realized how foolish this fight was, but yet, when a whole continent sunk under the sea, they just kept fighting. This suggests heavy amounts of racism against the elven folk. The City was destroyed and neither side achieved victory, tensions are still high between the two peoples to this day. The end of the war marked the beginning of the Second Age.
